Personal AI Apps Compared (2026): Gloabi vs Meta Muse vs Grok Bot vs Character.AI vs Replika vs ChatGPT

“Personal AI” means different things now. What Gloabi, Meta Muse, Grok Bot, Character.AI, Replika and ChatGPT each do, what they cost and who they suit.

Full disclosure: we make Gloabi. We describe every product here as fairly as we can, including where another one is the better choice. If anything is out of date, email [email protected] and we will fix it.

The short answer

For characters and roleplay, Character.AI. For an AI companion to talk with, Replika. For answers, writing and research, ChatGPT. For errands, three of these apps are AI agents. Meta Muse and Grok Bot work from a computer in the cloud. Gloabi gives you a Personal AI agent of your own that calls, texts and emails from its own number and works on your own Mac.

AI companion or AI agent?

Most confusion about "personal AI" comes from lumping two kinds of product together: companions that talk with you, and agents that do work for you. Meta Muse, Grok Bot and Gloabi are all AI agents. They differ in where the work happens and whose AI it is.

AI companions talk with you

Character.AI and Replika are built for conversation. You chat, it answers, and the relationship lives inside the app. Character.AI has a huge library of characters made by its users, and it is strong for creative storytelling. Replika gives you one companion that gets to know you over time.

Cloud AI agents work for you from a computer in the cloud

Meta Muse launched on September 8, 2026. You tell it what needs to get done, and it plans the steps, uses the web and connected apps like Gmail and Google Calendar, and keeps working after you close the app. Meta says it comes back for your approval before it sends an email or makes a purchase.

Grok Bot, from xAI, the maker of Grok, launched in beta on August 11, 2026. Its Bots are always-on "teammates" that share a computer in the cloud with a browser, files and a terminal. They sign in to the tools you use, work across apps and inboxes, and come back when something needs your approval. Several Bots can work together as a team.

ChatGPT has agent features too, with the most on its paid plans.

A Personal AI agent knows you and works for you, by phone and on your Mac

Gloabi's Personal AI is an agent too, and it takes a different route. You give it a name, a face and a voice, and it learns your style. It works through its own phone number and email (Enhanced AI) and on your own Mac (free Mac app): it can call a restaurant to book a table, text and email for you, schedule meetings, use any app or website on your Mac, and shop, checking out only after you confirm the total. You can also message it on WhatsApp and Telegram, and when you call or text it while you are out, it does the job on your Mac. A safety check asks you before sensitive steps like paying.

The lines are blurring. Muse is getting its own email address, Grok Bot already has one, and ChatGPT keeps adding agents. The real differences are where the work happens (a cloud computer or your own Mac), whether the AI has its own phone number, and whether it is an AI of yours that other people can reach.

Each app, honestly

Gloabi

A Personal AI agent platform and social network from Detroit, launched in October 2025.

Strengths
  • Its own phone number and email, so it can call, text and email for you
  • Works in any app or website on your own Mac, including shopping
  • Call or text it from anywhere to start a task on your Mac
  • Learns only for you, never for shared models or other users
Trade-offs
  • A much smaller company than Meta, xAI or OpenAI
  • Computer tasks need your Mac on; there is no cloud computer
  • Android and Windows apps are coming, not out yet
  • Phone, email, WhatsApp and Telegram need Enhanced AI; US numbers only for now

Meta Muse

Meta's personal AI agent, powered by its Muse Spark model, launched on September 8, 2026.

Strengths
  • Does real tasks: email, bookings, forms and shopping
  • Keeps working in the cloud after you close the app
  • Free to start, on iOS, Android, the web and WhatsApp
Trade-offs
  • Only in five countries so far, not the UK or EU
  • Needs a Meta account, and you must be 18 or older
  • Paid plans use weekly "Muse tokens" with no clear allowance

Grok Bot

Always-on AI agents from xAI, the maker of Grok, in beta since August 11, 2026.

Strengths
  • Works in its own cloud computer, even when you step away
  • Signs in to your tools and can have its own email
  • Several Bots can work together as a team
  • Can pay with X Money or Stripe Link
Trade-offs
  • In beta, and only on X Premium ($30 a month) or higher
  • Built for work, with no phone number of its own
  • A shared weekly usage pool; heavy use needs top-ups

Character.AI

A platform for chatting with AI characters made by its users, built for roleplay and creative stories.

Strengths
  • A huge library of characters for creative stories
  • Unlimited messaging on the free plan
  • Low-cost plans at $4.99 or $9.99 a month
Trade-offs
  • Ads on the free plan, and some on lite
  • Open-ended chat is for adults only
  • Does not act for you outside the app

Replika

An AI companion app launched in 2017, built around a single long-term relationship.

Strengths
  • A mature companion with an avatar and voice calls on Pro
  • Remembers you; Ultra lets you save memories
  • Chatting is free
Trade-offs
  • Prices are shown only in the app
  • Many popular features need a paid plan
  • Fined €5 million in Italy in 2025 over data and age checks

ChatGPT

OpenAI's AI chat app, and for many people the default for questions, writing and research.

Strengths
  • Strong help with questions, writing, research and code
  • Memory, projects, scheduled tasks and agents
  • A free plan, on iOS, Android, Mac, Windows and web
Trade-offs
  • A tool you open, not an AI people can call or email
  • You finish purchases on the store's site
  • Trains on chats unless you turn it off

FAQ

What is a Personal AI agent, and how is it different from an AI companion?

An AI companion is built for conversation. An AI agent completes tasks for you, like bookings, forms and shopping. A Personal AI agent like Gloabi's is an agent that is yours: it knows you, has its own name and contact details so people can reach it, and runs errands for you by phone, text, email and on your Mac. Meta also calls Muse a personal AI agent; Muse does its work from a computer in the cloud.

Meta Muse vs Grok Bot vs Gloabi: which one runs errands?

All three do real work. Muse and Grok Bot work from a computer in the cloud through your connected apps and accounts, so they keep going when your devices are off. Gloabi's Personal AI calls, texts and emails from its own number and address, and works on your own Mac, where your files, apps and saved passwords already are. That means your Mac needs to be on for computer tasks.

Can an AI shop for me?

Yes, several can. Muse and Grok Bot can pay for things from the cloud. Gloabi's Personal AI shops on your Mac: it asks which item you want, adds it to the cart, and checks out after you confirm the total, and your address and card details stay on your Mac. ChatGPT finds and compares products, and you finish the purchase on the store's site.

Is Meta Muse an AI companion?

No. Muse is an agent built to get things done, like email, bookings, forms and shopping. It remembers what matters to you, but it is designed for tasks rather than companionship.

Which AI remembers me?

All six remember you in some way. ChatGPT, Muse and Grok Bot remember facts and preferences you share. Replika remembers your relationship, and Ultra lets you save memories. Character.AI memory works per character, with pinned memories. Gloabi's Personal AI keeps a memory of you and learns your style as you use it.

Is there a Character.AI alternative that does more than chat?

If you want characters and roleplay, Character.AI is still the strongest fit. If you want an AI agent that acts for you in the real world, look at Muse, Grok Bot or Gloabi. Gloabi's Personal AI also has its own phone number, so it can call and text for you.

Which one is best for privacy?

Read each company's policy. Gloabi says what your Personal AI learns from you is used only for your own AI, never to train shared models or for anyone else, and it does not sell your data. Messages between people on Gloabi are end-to-end encrypted. Chats with your Personal AI are encrypted in Gloabi's database with a key Gloabi holds, so your AI can remember you, and the Mac app keeps your passwords and card details on your Mac. OpenAI says it does not sell your data and lets you turn off training. Muse runs inside Meta's account system and asks before it sends or spends. Grok Bot's cloud computers run in the US.
